Yes, 30 April is always, and will forever be, the best day of the year.
Why is this, I hear you cry?
For one of the following reasons (take your pick):
* In 1250 King Louis IX of France was ransomed for the equivalent of one million dollars.
* In 1725 Spain withdrew from the Quadruple Alliance.
* In 1789 George Washington took office as the first U.S. president.
* In 1849 Giuseppe Garabaldi repulsed a French attack on Rome.
* In 1900 Casey Jones was killed while trying to save the runaway train "Cannonball Express."
* In 1945 Adolf Hitler committed suicide.
* In 1970 U.S. troops invaded Cambodia.
* In 1972 North Vietnam invaded South Vietnam.
* In 1975 the last Americans were evacuated from the US Embassy in Saigon.
* In 1991 125,000 people were killed in a cyclone which hit Bangladesh.
* In 1997 Ellen DeGeneres came out.
It's a tough one, isn't it?
