I see that Commodore Bananarama is still making threats to anyone who will listen.

There's a major test for the diplomats here; one that, on the face of it, looks virtually impossible. If a fourth coup can be averted, and the egregious Commodore shuffled off the stage, the person or persons responsible will deserve the highest honours and greatest rewards which grateful peoples (in Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and elsewhere in the Pacific) can bestow.

The question in my mind is this:

After a lifetime of publicly-funded flatulence, will Winston Peters achieve something worthwhile at last?

Anxious nations await the answer...

If there's one thing everyone should now agree upon - everyone except the Fijian Military, that is - it is this:

At the end of this latest coup, however long this may take, Fiji must be completely demilitarised.

Fiji doesn't need an army, and it is plainly against its national interests for it to have one.

The bullyboys and thugs should be made to work in the civilian economy, and the uniforms and weapons dumped at sea.
