We thought it was time for us to have a bit of a get together again!!

The lunch will be held at Happy Days Restaurant Western Springs (opposite the Lake, the old "Springs" restaurant) on Friday July 14th at 12pm. Adults are $19.90 per head and kids under 12 are $2.90 +$1.00 per year of age. (Though it would be a good day to call Grandma in to baby-sit!)

I need to confirm numbers 24 hours in advance so will be giving them a call on Thursday at 12pm. If you are going to come along please contact one of us via e-mail (if you know it!) or by leaving your answer here.

We welcome new traders, old traders and even lurkers! Feel free to bring your mates too. Remember, Thursday 12pm is the cut off date! If you have not contacted us by then you will miss this fantastic day out!

Thank you, ladies.

I would dearly love to be there, but it's not possible.

Anyone else contemplating going is sure of a good time but would be well advised to take a couple of bibs.

(The bibs are for Tracey and Allison, of course.)

Yes well I expect that they don't let people with Dementia and Alzheimers travel on planes unassisted ;)

A shame none the less!!

As for the bibs - I am sure we'll make good use of them ;)

I just know that Pene didn't mean  'Can't Remember A Freakin' Thing' disease  ...

(though if she HAD, she would certainly have couched the sentiment in that politest of all possible versions, this goes without saying)

but  perish even that Unworthy Thought, since my trusty acronym site informs me  there are 5 other translations of this interesting disorder ...

...so clearly one of the  more obscure versions must have been it...

.

.

.

.

Component Repository And Framework Technology  perhaps.

.

.

Is that wot you find yourself stuck with when building a website precludes your attending an all-afternoon liquid lunch with a bunch of Gorgeous Young Things?

 But it was Toppy who told us of the aged one's problems in her post

As GIF and TR have met DH......... they are the only ones who can judge his state of mind. :?

But wait.............David.....you have been posting for many many many years..........so maybe others feel they know your state of mind?

I suffer from the said disease myself at times.  I found it quite comforting to think there was a fellow sufferer in our midst. :P

Tracey has never met me.

She is frightened of people older than herself, in the same way that Austin Powers is frightened of carnies, and as she is just five years old she is frightened of a lot of people.

I have been forgetful all my life *, so it's going to be hard to see Alzheimers coming.

The disease I really want is Cotard's Syndrome.  (See The Unscrambled Web.)

But I digress.

Where are the promised DVDs, TR?  I made the mistake of telling my children about them and now I'm getting "Are they here yet?", "Are they here yet?", "Are they here yet?" all day and every day.

* When I was 17 I went to the Post Office in Wellington, as part as a long list of things to do.  The Post Office official asked to borrow my list, with its complex instructions to myself about the tasks I had to complete before the sun set that day.  The list was returned to me, and I left the Post Office.  It was only later in the day that I noticed that someone had written at the foot of the list, in a neat hand:

12.  Go to the Pub.

Which also reminds me, although I cannot tell you why, of a letter to The Times in 1915.  It read as follows:

A little light might be shed, with advantage, upon the high‑handed methods of the Passports Dept. of the Foreign Office.  On the form provided for the purpose I described my face as 'intelligent'.  Instead of finding the characterisation entered, I have received a passport in which some official, utterly unknown to me, has taken it upon himself to call my face 'oval'.

But I digress again.  Pray continue with your interesting discourse...

cotard's syndrome
People with Cotard's Syndrome believe that they do not exist... how cool is that? Some Cotard's sufferers believe that they are missing major body parts such as their brain or heart... I'm not making this up! It's common for Cotard's sufferers to test their own mortality by repeatedly attempting suicide... Now that's one hell of a syndrome!

I am pleased to advise that my colleagues Hieronymus Bosch and Gustave Dore have just filed some wonderful pix from today's lunch, scooping by ages those reporters who were actually in attendance (and, in the case of Herr Bosch, beating them by five centuries: these are can-do guys!).

Here, from Monsieur Dore, is a picture which he has (pithily) captioned The Head Waiter Angrily Flourishes His Severed Head at Dartagnan, Who Goosed Him in the Vestibule.

Allison is depicted bowing her head in (pretended) grief.  Tracey MacKenzie is lying on the ground, under the waiter, looking upwards.

M. Dore has captioned this next picture The Queue For the Toilets at the Grotesquely Mis-named Happy Days Restaurant, Western Springs, Hell (aka "Auckland"):

Herr Bosch has provided this wonderful study, entitled Miss Mackenzie Looks Into the Barrel.  I have asked for an explanation of this painting, including an indication of the identity of the man on the barrel, and will keep you posted on his reply:

Lunch was great today, enjoyed meeting everyone, great choice of restaurant Tracey and Allison, looking forward to the next one :D:D

Tracey is so grown up for a 6 year old I thought, and there were no tantrums from her or anybody lol.

I will have to remember to make sure my batteries are charged so I can take my camera next time.
